In 1965, writer Gay Talese embarked on an assignment from Esquire to write a profile on famed singer Frank Sinatra. Despite encountering obstacles such as Sinatra's illness and unavailability, Talese remained persistent, using the meantime to observe and interview those close to the star. The resulting piece, "Frank Sinatra Has a Cold," has since been hailed as a groundbreaking work of literary nonfiction, featuring an introduction by Talese, reproductions of his manuscript pages, and iconic photographs from Phil Stern and other acclaimed photojournalists.
